Roof Measurement & Calculation

View your building footprint and calculate roofing materials using our advanced bundle-based calculation system.

This will first show your building footprint, then allow you to calculate roofing materials.

Calculation Process

1

Building Detection

We use OpenStreetMap building data overlaid on Google Maps satellite imagery to accurately identify your roof. This gives us a precise footprint area measurement.

2

Area Calculation

We calculate your true roof area by adjusting the footprint area based on your roof's pitch. Steeper roofs have a larger surface area than the building footprint.

flat pitch: 0/12 (1.00x)
low pitch: 2/12 (1.05x)
medium pitch: 6/12 (1.12x)
steep pitch: 12/12 (1.25x)
very steep pitch: 18/12 (1.40x)
3

Bundle Calculation

Our bundle-based approach calculates to the nearest bundle instead of the nearest square (100 sq ft), reducing waste and saving you money.

Asphalt Shingles: 3 bundles/square
Architectural Shingles: 3 bundles/square
Standing Seam Metal: 3 bundles/square
Cedar Shakes: 4 bundles/square
Concrete Tile: 3 bundles/square
TPO/EPDM Membrane: 3 bundles/square
4

Cost Estimation

We calculate material and installation costs based on the bundle-adjusted area and your selected material. Our estimates account for pitch difficulty, tear-off fees, and contractor margins.
