How Bundle Rounding Works
Most roofing materials are sold in bundles, with a certain number of bundles making up one "square" (100 sq ft) of roofing coverage:
Asphalt Shingles:3 bundles per square
Architectural Shingles:3 bundles per square
Standing Seam Metal:0 bundles per square
Cedar Shakes:4 bundles per square
Concrete Tile:0 bundles per square
TPO/EPDM Membrane:0 bundles per square
Natural Slate:0 bundles per square
EPDM Membrane:0 bundles per square
TPO Membrane:0 bundles per square
Modified Shingle Installation:3 bundles per square
Traditional estimating rounds up to the nearest square, but bundle-based rounding calculates to the nearest bundle, reducing waste and saving you money.
Example
If you need 20.2 squares of asphalt shingles (3 bundles per square):
Traditional method: Round to 21 squares = 63 bundles
