What is Ice & Water Shield?
Ice & water shield is a self-adhering waterproof membrane installed directly on the roof deck before shingles. It provides critical protection against water infiltration caused by ice dams, wind-driven rain, and other moisture intrusion.
Building codes in most cold-climate regions require ice & water shield at eaves (typically 3-6 feet from the edge), valleys, and around penetrations like chimneys, skylights, and plumbing vents.
