Clar Construction

Dan and his crew were exceptional! Our 1850s house underwent major renovations to the kitchen, bathroom, mud room, sun room, and dining area, plus rewiring and redoing plumbing as needed, and replacing almost all the windows and the entire roof. The basement, once a scary dungeon, is now a wonderfully insulated clean space. Of course there were many quirks with an old building like this, but Dan was very transparent about the extra cost and build time incurred. The project lead, Jared, was fantastic. Very kind and easy going, he nonetheless kept the project moving along as best he could with all the hiccups. He even helped us out with some smaller things which weren't within the scope of the project, which we greatly appreciate. The various crews that cycled through were a pleasure as well. We couldn't be happier with the team's amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. The house is warmer (crucial!) and feels much more open, light, and airy. We cannot recommend Clar Construction enough.

Our 1904 Montpelier house was kind of a wreck when we asked Dan to do a whole house remodel faithful to the original design but fully updated. And that's just what he and his wonderful team did. The new finishes blend beautifully with the old and the guts of the house are unobtrusively brand new. We were living abroad during the renovation. Dan was the perfect general contractor and his lead carpenter Jared was the perfect onsite manager for absentee owners. We could not recommend them more highly.

Where to begin. From start to finish, and i mean that literally, Clar Construction provided the BEST possible experience i could have hoped for. The design and ability to help me clarify my vision (including Annika Cooper from RK Miles! AND Dan Clar!); the transparency of costs, time lines, and issues (because EVERY build has issues); the quality of workmanship and the communication and attention to detail (including Sherman Plumley, the project manager! a man of few but concise and relevant words)...all aspects of the build were detailed, comprehensive, fun! Nothing is perfect and neither was this build. From additional costs due to plumbing and electrical needs (could not have been forseen), a broken discontinued countertop (replacement is even BETTER!), and handpainted tiles that went awry (not their fault!). Dan Clar, Sherman Plumley and Annika Cooper handled it all with compassion, grace and care. It starts and ends with Dan Clar. Dan is involved from beginning to end, but empowers his employees to to do what they do best! He know when to sit back and observe, and when it's time to jump in and help, both his people and his clients. I am beyond grateful, so much so that a second project is now underway. Thank you Clar Construction, for making my house my forever HOME!

Clar Construction is my family's go to for home construction. The team has completed a number of projects in my home that have not only improved the structural integrity of the home but also created a beautiful space for our family to share. Not only is the Clar Construction team the most talented group of carpenters I have ever worked with, their attention to detail and cleanliness exceeds even my high expectations. There simply aren't enough stars available to align with my exceptionally high review of this construction company.

The Clar team undertook significant structural and remodeling work on our old farmhouse. Dan's great planning skills helped the project go smoothly, even though it was technically complex and involved multiple subs. Each member of the Clar team was very personable and invested in the work. We're pleased with the end results and look forward to working with the team on our next project.
